Tori has been in the hospitality since 1990, starting in California in hotel sales in Northern and Southern California. Moved with her family to Portland in 1997. Started working at Travel Portland in 2011 in Partner Development, helping local businesses connect with the visitor. Now she is a Convention Sales Manager in the single hotel market.
Janis Ross, CMP
Vice President of Convention & Sports Marketing
Travel Lane County
Janis Ross is Vice President of Convention & Sports Marketing for Travel Lane County - Eugene, Cascades & Coast. Prior to joining Travel Lane County in 2004, Janis was Director of Sales at The Governor Hotel in Portland, and worked in sales at Seventh Mountain Resort in Bend. She has additional experience as a corporate meeting planner and marketing communications manager.
Janis earned both an MBA and Bachelors in Business Administration from Portland State University. She is past president of Meeting Professionals International Oregon Chapter and serves on the National Association of Sports Commissions Board of Directors.
Convention Sales Manager
Bri has been at Travel Portland since April 2017 working as a Convention Sales Manager in the single hotel market. Most recently, she was an Area Sales Manager for Atrium Hospitality working for the Embassy Suites and Holiday Inn Portland Airport properties. Prior to moving to Portland in 2015, Bri was a Convention Sales Manager at VisitTulsa in Tulsa, OK where she was also an active member of Oklahoma’s Wild West Chapter for SGMP. Bri is very excited to be back in SGMP as a member of the Greater Oregon chapter.
Director of Sales
Debbie McCune, the Travel Salem Director of Sales has been employed by the organization since 1998. With over 24 years in the hospitality industry, Debbie’s well-rounded knowledge of all aspects of the visitor and meeting planner industries make her an affective sales representative for the Salem area meeting and event business.
An Oregon resident for over 49 years and a Salem area resident for 26 years, Debbie’s love of the state and community are a definite asset when selling Salem. Her strong sales and customer services skills come from her previous employment in retail and outside advertising sales for 7 years. Debbie has always excelled in her previous positions quickly rising to management levels. Prior to working for Travel Salem Debbie was the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Red Lion Hotel and Convention Center (previously the Quality Inn) for 5 years.
Debbie was hired by Travel Salem in 1998 as Director of Services, a position she held for six years. In May 2004 Debbie became Travel Salem Director of Sales. Her strong relationships in the industry, such as chairing the marketing committee for the Oregon Tour and Travel Tack Force (OTTTF) and chairing the Willamette Valley Visitors Association (WVVA) have proven Debbie’s strong leadership abilities. Debbie’s leadership with Team Salem, which consists of General Managers, Director of Sales and Sales Managers from Salem’s lodging, meeting properties and attractions, is key to the success to the convention and event sales program.
Debbie is a member of many industry trade associations that help her build solid relationships needed to sell to meeting planners such as: Meeting Professionals International, Oregon Society of Association Managers, Society of Government Meeting Professionals. She is also well established with her peers at other CVB’s statewide. In addition she has served as the chair for the Salem-Keizer 24J Culinary/Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation Advisory Committee and is called on regularly by the educators in the community to speak to their classes about the industry. She is also called on for her expertise to speak to the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Youth classes and other civic groups in the community. She is currently serving on the Board for GO-SGMP and is the vice chair for the Oregon State Fair Foundation.
