A powerful and damaging earthquake could occur at any time along the Cascadia Subduction Zone fault. Estimates for the probability of a large earthquake vary, but the impact it would have on communities from British Columbia to California is certain. While a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake will be a major natural disaster, it will be survivable if you are prepared. Speaker Mark Becker will discuss steps we can take to be prepared personally and professionally in the event of an earthquake.
Speaker: Mark Becker
Mark Becker is the Emergency Preparedness Specialist for Oregon State University’s Office of Emergency Preparedness. In 2005, Mark began his career as a firefighter in Colorado, rising to the rank of Lieutenant in 2010. Mark moved to Oregon in 2012 pursuing a career in Law Enforcement. Mark joined the OSU Office of Emergency Preparedness in 2016. In this role he assists Departments and Colleges with the creation of individual Emergency Operation Plans, training in emergency preparedness, and conducting drills to test the plans.
