TSA - What is this?

Transportation Security Administration

If you travel at all in Oregon or across the nation you will have to go through security at an airport. Do you ever wonder why we do all the things that they require of us.

  • Why can’t all airports do the exact same rules as we do in Portland?
  • Are full body scanners going to be at all airports?
  • Why do I get my hands swabbed, what are they looking for?
  • If I can not bring my cigarette lighter, why can I bring matches?

On January 3rd, join us to hear what Mike Irwin, Federal Security Director for TSA Oregon. Mike will share his experience being in the White House on 9/11 and his involvement in the creation of TSA and its responsibilities beyond aviation.

We will also hear from Tina Burke about her role as customer service manager at the Portland airport in regards to TSA.

Think about all those questions you have asked yourself as you have gone through the long lines of security as Mike Irwin will have Q&A time.
