Event Sustainability has evolved considerably over the past 10 years.  It has expanded, giving every organization the opportunity to lower their carbon footprint, serve local or water-wise menu items and help protect the oceans from plastics. With conferences the opportunities to utilize the four R’s are numerous and the social responsibility prospects endless.

Facilitator Michelle Tiernan will present current information on Event Sustainability - focusing on the Triple Bottom Line of Planet, People and Progress. Starting from exactly where we are, we will gage our current sustainability level. Then we will explore strategies for moving the needle utilizing the Four R's: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  We will learn about leveraging sustainable supply chain options and partnering with local vendors.  We will create our own Event Sustainability Policy and plan of action.  Local vendors will discuss their LEED Certified event venues, B Corporation status, Corporate Responsibility Projects, local and healthy catering options and green marketing products.

Sustainability is Michelle’s passion. She is a past president of the Oregon Chapter of the Green Meeting Industry Council and holds certifications through U.S. Green Building Council for LEED Building, EverBlue Institute in Corporate Sustainability Management and in Conscious Business Management.

February Fun(d)raising:  It is that Sweetheart time of the year.
We are so happy we get to see you two times in one month. For our February meeting we will have only our regular $1 Raffle because we are gearing up for our Stepping Up Annual Conference and it's Fun(d)raising opportunities on February 23 - 25.   If you have any wine or beer that you would like to donate to our Wall Pull at the conference, please bring to the meeting.
